Workshop on Tourism Education in Nepal held

One-day workshop on "Tourism Education in Nepal" was organized by Nepal Tourism Board with the support of SNV/Nepal on April 01, 2004 to discuss about various issues pertaining to tourism education. Participants disccused on recognition of certifications of diploma, marketing and research for institutions, curriculum development in tourism and content of course to be studied on institutional level, and networking among tourism, institutions/academies, separate faculty of tourism, training of trainers, concept building of levels in education, log in resource centers and skill test of tourism vocational training on national level:

Representatives from various Kathmandu based tourism educational institutions and other related associations and agencies namely Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management, Nepal Academy of Tourism and Hospitality, Nepal Collage of Travel and Tourism Management (NCTTM), Kathmandu Academy of Tourism and Hospitality (KATH), Nepal Association of Tour Operator (NATO), Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNNCCI), Tourist Guide Association of Nepal (TURGAN), Police Academy, CTEVT, SNV/Nepal, TRPAP, Swiss Contact were present during the workshop. 

Mr. Tek Bdr. Dangi. CEO of Nepal Tourism Board inaugurated the workshop with an opening remark. Speaking on the occasion he stressed on quality manpower development in Nepal and also mentioned that in addition to education all should focus on tourism awareness for perfect harmony. Mr. Subash Nirola, Director Tourism Products and Resources Development NTB welcomed the participants and highlighted the need of this workshop clearly identified the roles of the Ministry, NTB, and the private sector. Mr. Peter Nizette, International Centre, gave a final presentation for Responsible Tourism. Mr. Lila Bdr. Baniya, Assistant Manager Tourism Products and Resources NTB and Brigitte Nitsch, Rural Tourism Development Advisor SNV/Nepal) facilitated the program.
