'Repositioning Nepal image abroad is important'


Hon'ble Assistant Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation
Mrs.
Yankila Sherpa visited Nepal Tourism Board on July 25, 2005 to acquire
information about Nepal Tourism Board and its functions and planning.
During the programme, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board, Mr. Tek Bahadur
Dangi
apprised Hon'ble Assistant Minister about the modus operandi,
function,
achievement, challenges and future plan of Nepal Tourism Board. Vice
Chairman of Nepal Tourism Board, Mr. B. K. Shrestha requested Hon'ble
Assistant Minister to solve pertinent problems related to tourism
industry including RNAC, new airport in Bairawa and gratis visa to
tourists for seven days and reduction of landing and parking fee for
international airlines at Tribhuvan International Airport. Member of
Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Suman Pandey also requested Hon'ble Assistant
Minister to implement the recommendation made by High Level Commission
formed under Yubaraj Kathiwada, then Member of National Planning
Commission. Another Member of Nepal Tourism Board Mr. Ashok Pokharel
said that it was the high time to concentrate on particular tourist
generating markets to yield better result.

Mrs.
Yankila Sherpa assured the tourism industry that she would do her best
to develop tourism industry of Nepal. " I have given high priority to
reposition the image of Nepal as a tourist destination. We should use
local and international media to improve the image of Nepal as a safe
destination. I understand that the government has to encourage
international airlines to fly Nepal providing different incentive and
we
will do it soon," she said.
