Tourists visiting Muktinath surge

With the pick tourism season, the number of Indian tourists coming to visit Muktinath Temple has gone up sharply.
According to Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), around 150 Indian visitors are coming to Muktinath on a pilgrim tour daily. Their number used to be around 50 last year,” said ACAP Jomsom chief Paras Bikram Singh.
Maximum Indian visitors arrive here through land route via Pokhara and Beni, he said, adding that some of them also land here through flights between Pokhara-Jomsom.
Tourism entrepreneurs, however, are not happy. The number of tourists visiting Annapurna region from third countries is not booming due to lack of necessary development infrastructure, said owner of Jomsom-based Hotel Majesty Khagendra Tulachan.
